New beginnings...

Welcome to Distinctive design, a blog designed to influence design.

A blog is something very new to me, sure I have heard of them, but I have only just become interested in creating one. As a designer I believe it is important to share design knowledge and opinion to other people to influence and the development of design projects. I have created this blog to do just that.

I want this blog to be quite community based because it is important in design that everyone can get their opinions across. Therefore feel free to comment on posts and take part in any other blog activity.

Every week I will post articles about one product that I believe that is distinctive and unique. Lets say every Monday. (Starting next Monday). The product could be old or new, but they will or would have set higher standards within the market due to their design. This could be done through function, technological developments, form, ergonomics you name it. I am hoping to make these quite a detailed post underlining all the major features, but this of course depends on time as I am starting University in September.

Another weekly post I plan to introduce is a picture of a product. I will list 5 different distinctive designs of products in a voting system. Lets say every Sunday. You will have 4 days to vote for your favourite product. The winning product will get its photo uploaded on a Thursday. Readers and viewers than then make comments and posts on the blog on the photographed product’s distinctive features etc. Hopefully with enough viewers this will create another detailed post based on your opinions, creating a total of 2 major posts a week. I am planning on introducing this when I reach lets say 50 readers? Hopefully this wont take too long. :)

I am hoping this blog can become quite popular over the next few months within the design community and I am excited about developing and coming up with new ideas to add to the blog in the coming weeks. So all I can say now is start ‘follow’ (think that is what you call it on here?) , tell people, share with Facebook, twitter etc and link link link and lets just have fun.

Also follow me on twitter @sammgranger for more information, news and just general twittery stuff.

To start here is an influential picture I took on holiday in Greece. The pose is great and it stands for individuality. (I also just wanted to try the picture tool in the posting bit) ;)
